spring 2008 - we did not find any bluebonnets but did discover this nice patch of tulips in oklahoma
and now for spring 2009...
on the trip down the interstate highway to san antonio, i was scouting for a bluebonnet photo opportunity. since last year was a bust, i was determined to find some bluebonnets. there were many nice patches along the medians, but only an idiot would stop alongside 70 mph traffic with toddlers. happily, an open field caught my eye just north of waco. the girls were eager to stretch their legs after already putting in a few hours as passengers, but the grasses were tickly and big sister whined when asked to sit down. i suppose i can’t really blame her.

i found this second area on the way back home before hillsboro. the weather was cooler than expected, hence the hoodies. the girls did agree to leave the happy meal toys in the car, so sometimes you just have to pick your battles… and what is with the unkempt hairstyles? the only excuse to offer is that we were on vacation, in the car for 5 hours, and lucky to NOT still be in our pajamas!
