i got a little bit of a reality check last week when i discovered that big sister started buying breakfast on her own at school. the act itself is not a big deal – it is just the realization that she made this decision on her own. she must have seen other kids “going thru the line” (as she calls it) – and thought she would do the same.

i am impressed & proud that she figured out on her own how to take care of herself, but also a little sad in knowing this is just one more step toward her not needing me as much. kindergarten truly makes kids open new doors, but it also does the same for their parents.
