task: to decorate a shoebox in the colors of the texas flag and to display 5 items in or on the box that represent texas.
big sister began studying about texas last week at school. she had some great ideas for what to do for her project. horses were at the top of the list, of course. we convinced her to use a photo instead of her real jessie and woody cowboy dolls – because the dolls were too large and hard to fasten to the box. my favorite part is the fence, which was made by using a scrapbooking edge punch (somewhat out of scale but you get the point…) the flagpole makes a big statement as well. daddy printed the flag on the computer, then we used a wooden skewer, drinking straw and hot glue to put it all together. a pearl bead at the top caps it off, and big sister was sure to point out that it should be gold instead of white, but she went with it nonetheless.
