carnival day!!

as you may have guessed, the highlight of today was going to the carnival. the poor girls had been waiting all week for sunday, and then they waited all morning for the afternoon. will the torture ever end??

the girls rode the usual rides - the merry-go-round, the spinning strawberries, and ran thru the fun house a few times. there was a new boat ride and they finally braved the teacups this year. they waited in line at the dragon rollercoaster, but right when it was their turn, big sister told little sister she was too short, little sister said "okay", and they both walked away from riding it. we tried telling her she was tall enough, but i really think they both wanted a reason not to ride it. little sister rode the swings for the first time and had a blast.

the highlight for me was the awesome weather - a sunny, breezy 78 degrees. it's typically been very hot and humid, and we'd all get home very dirty and sticky and sweaty, so this was a particularly welcome change! i'm also looking forward to the low tonight in the 50s and waking to a chill in the air, even tho it will only last till the sun comes up. now it is officially fall. :-)
