we were stranded at home today with no school - due to icy roads and 15 degree weather/wind chill of -1, and just got word that there will be no school tomorrow either. happily, the girls got to try out their new snow boots, which i bought thanks to a great online sale i found after being caught earlier this month (yet again) with snow on the ground and no suitable shoes with which to play in it. alas! never again, or at least not until the girls' feet grow about 4 more sizes (yes, i bought them extra big...)
after wiping out on our icy driveway, daddy got the idea to take the girls "sledding" - unprepared texan-style. who knew a pet carrier top and extension cord could be so much fun? i must admit i was skeptical at first, but it worked out rather well.
