fire safety week

A fireman is not a stranger and they
are nice to your family and a fireman can
take any fire from anybody's house.

big sister aced her pre-test today, with the theme of the words being about fire safety.

now we just have to master the dictation sentence tomorrow:
The firemen helped the kids make a plan to exit the home.

her class is headed to the fire station tomorrow for a field trip.  they'll get to meet some firemen and learn about their important job.  we talked at home too about what we should do in case of fire, drew a plan with escape routes, and practiced a fire drill.  little sister did not like (at all) how loud our smoke alarms are, and was worried how she would open her window all by herself to escape.  she only calmed down after i reassured her that daddy or i would come save her.  daddy corrected me later to say that he would save the girls so i could go save my scrapbooks.  such a kidder, but if that's the plan - no arguments from me!
