a beautiful Christmas

the view from my kitchen window
we were blessed to be surrounded by family again this holiday, but i think the highlight was playing in the snow. we tried to build a snowman, but the snow was too fluffy and did not stick together or want to be formed into shapes. once the sun came out, the fluff turned to slush - and then to water - and by late afternoon, the dormant brown lawns reappeared and it was the (dreary) winter scene as usual around here. but maybe it will snow again soon. :-) and maybe i will search out some winter gear for the girls just in case...we used socks as mittens (actually, a layered approach of sock-sandwich bag-sock) to keep the hands dry and warm. but with big sister's 3rd snow angel, she plopped right into a low spot in the yard that was a water puddle disguised as snow, so back inside we all went to get dry and warm.
