big sister got tested today to determine if she still has her peanut allergy or if she has outgrown it. and the answer is...
she is still highly allergic to peanuts. the peanut sample swelled to about 5cm within 15 minutes, and the pistachio sample swelled to about 1/2cm. the other nuts (walnut, pecan, cashew) did not really cause a reaction, but just to be safe - we are going to continue to avoid ALL nuts - just as we have been since her 1st exposure/reaction to them at 18 months old. we're also getting a few epipens to be on the safe side. i was kinda bummed about it at first, hoping that she had indeed outgrown it and that we were just being overly cautious all this time. but, luckily we have been as cautious as we have been, for very good reason. there are worse things to be allergic to, right?
