"goodbye, hotel & rental car!" said everyone.
"last time for my daily hot cocoa..." said big sister sadly.
"so long, complimentary breakfast & daily maid service" sobbed mom.
thanks to a cancelled original flight & 8 hours to wait around for our new one, we were able to spend some extra time with grandpa and great-grandma & grandpa. we soaked in our last bit of gorgeous california weather at a local street fair. little sister rode all the rides, but big sister braved only 1 or 2. they won cute dolphin prizes and convinced daddy to buy them cool volcano drinks.
and we checked off one more "to-do" from our unwritten list: eat lunch at in-n-out burger. then we said our goodbyes (again) and headed home. ahhh, home sweet home.
